Asbestos and lead based paint abatement are among the few projects you should NEVER do yourself. At Asbestos Quick Response, our primary concern is your health and safety! We have specially trained EPA / OSHA certified personnel to inspect your home and provide you with safe options.

Asbestos:

If you are in doubt whether a material contains asbestos, or if you are concerned about asbestos as a health hazard, our licensed asbestos inspectors can examine your home or building and identify potential areas of concern to contain asbestos.

We will also take samplings from the most likely locations for asbestos and get these samples laboratory analyzed for asbestos content. In most cases, we will provide same day results.

If your home does contain asbestos containing materials, we will provide to you abatement options for encapsulation, enclosure or removal. In some cases, leaving it alone may be the best option.

Upon job completion we will provide Air Clearance documentation provided by an independent consultant.
Asbestos can be found in:
  • Cement roofing, siding, and shingles.
  • Steam pipes, boilers, and old furnace duct coverings.
  • Resilient floor tiles and the adhesives used to install them.
  • Soundproofing or decorative material sprayed on walls or ceilings.
  • Patching, joint compounds, textured paint, or asbestos paper tape.
  • Cementious sheeting or millboard used around fireplaces or wood stoves.
Lead Based Paint:
Due to the health hazards of lead poisoning (especially to young children and pregnant women), the government banned the use of "Lead Based Paint" in 1978. Although some lead based paint was used in 80% of pre-1978 housing, its mere presence does not constitute a health hazard. Properly maintained and managed, LBP poses little health risk to most people.

However, one of the first things many people do when moving into a new house or business is to start sanding, painting, remodeling, etc. This easily generates lead based paint chips that can be picked up and ingested by small children or LBP dust that can be breathed by pregnant women and small children.

Before you purchase or remodel an older home or office, call us to conduct an inspection and test for lead based paint. If your home does contain LBP, we will provide you with a risk assessment and options for safely conducting your remodeling work.

The health hazards primarily related to high levels of lead in the blood stream are:
  • Memory loss
  • Difficult pregnancies
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Slowed or stunted growth
  • Hearing problems and headaches
  • High blood pressure and reproductive problems
  • Damage to the brain and central nervous system
  • Behavior and learning disorders such as hyperactivity
