Remodeling, Room Additions and General Contractor

Consumers have a lot of tools at their disposal to be able to make an educated, informed decision as to which Contractor they choose to use.
Make some calls; check up on them! Start with the basics:
1. Call the Registrar of Contractors; ask these questions, at the minimum.
a. How long has this company been in business in ARIZONA?
b. How many complaints, either past or present have been lodged against this Contractor?
2. Call the Better Business Bureau; ask these questions at the minimum.
a. Are they a member, if so, what is their rating?
b. Any complaints lodged against this Contractor, or individual.
The findings you get from this will give you a general idea of the Contractors success rate with getting along with his customers.
Every Contractor worth his salt, should produce a list of past clients with no hesitation. They should include contacts name and phone, and the type of job that was undertaken. This will allow you to focus on the clients that have projects similar to your own.
The best information, is often gotten by asking prior clients, a few simple questions. If you’re polite, you won’t believe what they’ll tell you.
1. Did they start and finish the job when they said they would?
2. Were you satisfied with the sub contractor’s that were brought to your job?
3. Were you satisfied that this Contractor was not taking short cuts?
4. When your project was complete, were you satisfied that you were treated fairly, and that you got your money’s worth?
But the best question is:
5. WOULD YOU USE THEM AGAIN?

You should check out the general contractor thoroughly. You’ll be surprised how much clearer your choice becomes when you do a little homework.
